              Grant Winners for 2011-12 Academic Year


              We are happy to announce the winners of the classroom mini-grants for the 2011-12 academic year. The foundation chooses creative and interesting projects spearheaded by teachers in the four-school system that will enhance a student's learning experience and are sustainable for years to come. The winners, totaling more than $3,000 in grant funding this year, are as follows:

              Pathways to Reading, Houghton Mifflin Decodable Readers
              Instructor: Laura Tobin, first grade, Eugene Field Elementary


              Proloque2Go (iPad program)
              Instructors: Barb Mackey & Robin Wilmes, special ed/SLP, Eugene Field Elementary

              More Music in School and Community (purchase of ukeleles)
              Instructor: Erika Lipiec, music, Eugene Field Elementary

              Words Their Way (reading program materials)
              Instructor: Michele Starke, third grade, Eugene Field Elementary

              Adolescent Readers and Technology (books for e-Readers)
              Instructor: Janet Jelavich, English II and Honors English IV, Maryville High School

              Culture Corner (materials related to culture-centered activities)
              Instructor: Sandra Wood, Spanish, Maryville High School
